TX governor signs bill to protect children from dangerous procedures
The following quote may be attributed to Alliance Defending Freedom Senior Counsel Matt Sharp, director of the ADF Center for Legislative Advocacy, regarding Texas Gov. Greg Abbott’s signing Friday of SB 14, a bill that protects children from dangerous, life-altering medical procedures:

By enacting this legislation, Texas has taken critical steps to protect children from radical activists that peddle gender ideology and pressure children into life-altering, experimental procedures and drugs. That’s why other countries—like Sweden, England, and Finland—are adopting policies that better protect children from the bad science that has already devastated countless lives. Thanks to the leadership of Gov. Abbott, Rep. Tom Oliverson, and Sen. Donna Campbell, Texas now joins the growing coalition of states taking a stand for children and for truth by enacting these vital protections.”

ABOUT Matt Sharp
Matt Sharp serves as senior counsel with Alliance Defending Freedom, where he is the director of the Center for Legislative Advocacy and focuses on state and local legislative matters. Since joining ADF in 2010, Sharp has authored federal and state legislation, regularly provides testimony and legal analysis on how proposed legislation will impact constitutional freedoms, and advises governors, legislators, and state and national policy organizations on the importance of laws and policies that protect First Amendment rights.
