Air Quality Permitting: Southeast Idaho Energy (SIE) Power County Advanced Energy Center (PCAEC)
Because of the level of interest from the members of the public and the complexity of this proposed project, DEQ is making the permit to construct (PTC) application materials available in advance of the required public comment period.
Proposed Project
The proposed facility will produce fertilizers, liquid fuels, and sulfuric acid products through the gasification of coal and petcoke.
- 3,000 to 4,000 tons per day of a blend of Powder River Basin (PRB) coal from Wyoming, western Utah bituminous coal, and refinery petcoke will be processed in a two-stage ConocoPhillips gasifier.
- Proposed Products: Ammonia, urea, urea ammonium nitrate (UAN), Fischer-Tropsch (F-T) diesel fuel, naphtha, sulfuric acid, and slag/frit for sale for road mix or other uses.
- The proposed site is about 6 miles southwest of American Falls, just south of the Lamb Weston potato processing plant.
